Homebirth can be a safe and satisfying experience for healthy, low risk mothers. To ensure your continuing health we offer home visits once a month until your 7th month, then every two weeks with weekly visits during the last month or so of your pregnancy. These visits are a combination of monitoring physical well being and discussions about diet, family changes, and just about anything else that comes up. Plan about an hour for each visit. Home visits are especially helpful for families with young children as it can be a challenge to entertain a toddler in a medical office! Group prenatal appointments are offered once a month in Dublin, CA and can be a great way to meet other parents, socialize, share your birth story and show off your new baby. We offer a full range of genetic testing and draw all labs at home. You can choose which tests are appropriate for your family and will have the opportunity to discuss all risks, benefits and alternatives before deciding. Should you want or need ultrasound imaging we can make appropriate referrals.
After the baby's birth we will visit at 24 hours and then

Waterbirth is an increasingly popular option for laboring mothers, it's hard not to relax floating in a tub of warm water! We have been facilitating healthy waterbirths for many years and recommend all mothers have a tub available to them. Our monitoring devices are waterproof so there is no need to get out of the tub until you are ready. Whether the baby is born in water depends on the course of the labor, and how you feel at the time. Our favorite tub rental resource is Kirsten Taylor at: www.gentlewaterbirthtubs.com.
Breastmilk is best! But breast feeding isn't always easy. Facilitating early correct latch at birth and ensuring proper technique in the following days are essential for starting your breast feeding relationship off well. Some babies are born knowing just what to do, others need gentle reminding. No matter who comes into your family you will have the early support and encouragement that can make all the difference.
